New Delhi: The Chilla Elevated Road of 5.9 km, which connects Delhi-Noida (Mayur Vihar to Greater Noida), is set to start as the budget has finally passed Rs 801 crore. The project will resume after 2021, as there was a lack of funds.
The UP government’s expenditure finance committee (EFC) has approved Rs 801 crore for the project, and the proposal will now be sent to the state cabinet for approval. Following the cabinet’s approval, a new tender will be issued to find a firm to complete the project. The fund will be divided equally between PWD and the Noida Authority.
The elevated road will benefit lakhs of commuters between Noida and Delhi who are currently subjected to traffic jams and chokepoints. It will link Chilla in Mayur Vihar to the Mahamaya Flyover in Noida, where the Greater Noida Expressway starts. This will transform the route from Delhi to Pari Chowk into a non-stop, high-speed corridor.

History of the project
The project’s cost was estimated to be Rs 605 crore in 2019. After three years, the bridge corporation’s budget was revised to Rs 1,076.6 crore in 2022. However, the Noida Authority rejected the proposal, prompting the corporation to reduce its estimate to Rs 912 crore.
With the Authority still unsatisfied, the estimate was reviewed by a private consultant, who reduced the amount to Rs 801.6 crore. The final cost was agreed upon by IIT-Bombay, which was Rs 801 crore.
