A 16 year old teenager girl commits suicide in Sector 63 after being sexually harassed by her uncle on Wednesday evening. Both the teens and his families are living as neighbors, as explained by the police officer, further he said that the man sent his daughter to call her cousin home around 4:30 PM.
Soon after being molested by her uncle, the teenager ran to a friends house where she revealed what happened with her to her friend and even requested poison, fearing parents won’t believe her if she accused her uncle of sexual harassment.
Police said that the girl’s father works as a food delivery agent and mother is an employee of a private company. They were away at work when this incident took place. The girl, the officer added, even told her friend that she can’t get ,money spent for poison from her mother later.
Her friend was trying to calm her down, the traumatized teenager returned home and hanged herself from a fan. Her mother, upon returning from work around 6.45 pm, found the girls body hanging, with the door left open. Neighbors started to gather at the spot when they heard woman screaming.
A police investigation revealed that the accused was a a daily wage worker and habitual drinker and commited crime while his wife and two children were away. He left home soon after the incident. Both families have been living just 20m apart for around 10 years, and often visited eachother quite often. The girl’s family is from Farrukhabad.
The autopsy of the minor was carried out on Thursday evening, and the report confirmed that the girl ended her life by hanging.
The investigation revealed that the suspect had sexually harassed the minor in the past as well, but she kept quiet but On Wednesday, when he repeated the harassment again, she ended her life, said police.
On the complaint by the minor’s parents, a case under sections 75 (sexual harassment) and 108 (abetment to suicide) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita was filed at Sector 63 police station, and the suspect was arrested following a brief gunfight on Faridabad-Noida-Ghaziabad Road on Thursday night, said SHO Singh, adding that further investigation is underway.
