New Delhi: Tihar Jail’s Assistant Superintendent Deepak Sharma lodged a complaint against a woman and her husband who allegedly cheated him of Rs 50 lakh under the pretext of investing in a health products business, police said.

Sharma, known for his passion for bodybuilding, accused professional wrestler Ronik Gulia and her husband Ankit Gulia of cheating him of Rs 50 lakh.

In his complaint, Sharma alleged that he met a woman named Ronik Gulia, a national and state wrestling champion, on Discovery Channel’s reality show ‘India’s Ultimate Warrior’. Mrs Gulia told Mr Sharma that her wrestler husband Ankit was a well-known health product entrepreneur and they were looking for investors.

Mr. Sharma invested ₹ 50 lakh in their business as they promised him huge profits. However, later they refused to return the money.

Tihar Jailer, a resident of West Vinod Nagar, lodged a complaint at East Delhi’s Madhu Vihar police station. Police registered a case of cheating. Police are investigating the case and trying to trace the couple.

Both Sharma and Gulia have a huge fan following on social media. The Tihar jail officer is an influencer and fitness enthusiast who is often compared to Salman Khan’s character in the police action series Dabangg, while Gulia has an Instagram following of around 4.5 lakh.
