Yamuna Expressway Speed Limit Update: There is a good news for commuters on the Yamuna Expressway as from February 16 they will have the option to increase their speed limits. The speed limit was lowered earlier in December 2024 due to dense fog and inclement weather conditions. The action was taken to prevent accidents on the Yamuna Expressway, as reduced visibility during winter increases the likelihood of accidents. Therefore, the maximum speed limit on the expressway had been lowered for two months during this period.
Revised Speed Limit
Now as per the latest update, after February 16, light vehicles can speed up to 100 kilometers per hour and Heavy vehicles will be able to travel at a speed of 80 kilometers per hour. Notably, the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA), had made changes to the speed limit on the 165-kilometer-long expressway connecting Delhi and Agra in Uttar Pradesh.
It said that from December 15, the maximum speed limit will be reduced to 80 km/h for light vehicles and 60 km/h for heavy vehicles. The notice stated that the speed limit will remain in effect until February 15, 2025. While implementing the rule, the authorities had stated that action will be taken against vehicles exceeding the speed limit. The speed limit was reduced on the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway also.
The authorities further stated that Noida police will install speed monitors on the expressway to keep check of over speeding vehicles. The traffic fine was also revised to curb violation of the speed limit. Cars and two-wheelers violating the revised speed limit were to be slapped with fine of Rs 2,000 and the amount was doubled to Rs 4, 000 for trucks and buses.
