In a shocking incident, a woman has been arrested by the Customs officials for attempting to smuggle 26 iPhone 16 Pro Max at Delhi’s IGI Airport. The woman was travelling from Hong Kong to Delhi. She had hidden the phones by wrapping them in tissue paper and kept in her vanity bag. The incident took place on Tuesday when she arrived in Delhi.
A spokesperson of the airport told ANI, “Based on intelligence, Delhi Airport Customs intercepted a lady passenger travelling from Hong Kong to Delhi carrying 26 iPhone 16 Pro Max concealed inside her vanity bag.”
The woman has been charged as per Customs act.
The Customs officials informed that further investigation is underway.

Cost of iPhone 16 Pro max is around HKD 10,199 in Hong Kong which if converted into Rupees costs around 1,09, 800.
While in India, the same phone costs ₹1,44,900. Going by the figures there is difference of Rs 35100.
It is cheaper in Hong Kong than India, therefore it becomes a viable option for smuggling.
iPhone 16 series was launched on September 9, 2024.
