Delhi Weather Update: Hot Days Ahead For Delhiites, Temperature Nears 40°C – Check Full Forecast

Delhi Weather Update: Summer or pre-monsoon season has officially begun in India with the month of April. Days are going to get hotter in the coming days, with temperature soaring above 40 degrees during the peak summer season. The maximum temperature in the national capital so far has ranged between 37-38 degrees Celsius. March recorded the highest temperature of 38°C on March 26. According to India Meteorological Department (IMD) data, Ridge in Delhi recorded a temperature of 40.1°C on March 26, marking a departure of 6.3°C from the normal range. This temperature was among the highest recorded across the country. While the temperature was expected to rise further, it didn’t due to the presence of strong surface winds, which brought respite to Delhiites.

Delhi Weather Update: Forecast For April 2

This is how the weather has been so far in Delhi, talking about today’s forecast, then IMD has predicted a day with clear sky conditions. The maximum and minimum temperatures will remain 35 and 15 degrees Celsius respectively. There will be no heat wave conditions in the national capital. According to the IMD, the maximum and minimum temperatures are currently in the range of 34 to 36°C and 14 to 17°C respectively.

No Heat Wave Until April 7

While the temperatures have risen in the national capital, humid conditions and heat wave have not been reported yet. Notably, MeT defines a heat wave as when the maximum temperature in the plains reaches at least 40 degrees Celsius or is 5 degrees above normal. Therefore, heat wave warning will be issued when the temperature touches 40 degrees Celsius and remains 5 above degrees normal.

Delhi Weather Update: Forecast For Next 4 Days

Talking about how the weather will be this week, IMD forecast tells us of rising temperatures. Delhi residents are expected to experience hot weather conditions over the next four days. The maximum temperature is predicted to reach 38 degrees Celsius on April 4, 5 and 6. It will remain 37 degrees Celsius on April 3. Partly cloudy sky is expected on April 3, whereas clear sky conditions have been forecasted on other days of the week (April 4, 5 and 6). Along with the rising temperatures, strong surface winds have been predicted for April 3, 4 and 5. The speed of these winds is expected between 20-30 km/h occasionally gusting to 40 km/h on all three days. No heatwave condition is expected until April 7 in the national capital.

Precautionary Measures

Amid the rising temperatures, people are advised to take precautionary measures to safeguard themselves from the effects of weather. Residents should keep themselves hydrated, cover themselves if going outdoors, and include watery fruits and vegetables in their diets. They should restrain from doing heavy physical activities during the day.
