Delhi Pollution: The people of Delhi continue to face the double impact of severe weather conditions for the eighth consecutive day. The air quality in different areas of the National Capital on December 1 was recorded as 501 in Mundka, 307 in Jahangirpuri, 125 in Narela, 254 in R.K Puram, 407 in Anand Vihar, 202 in Pusa, and 223 in Punjabi Bagh as of 7 am.
The Air Quality Index (AQI) in most areas of Delhi was measured at over 300 on November 30. According to the Air Quality Early Warning System, overall AQI is expected to remain in the “very poor” category for the next three days as a result of adverse weather.
Amid ‘very poor’ air quality, Delhi Police on Saturday night conducted vehicle checks to monitor the proper implementation and compliance of Stage IV of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP). Stage IV enforces a ban on the operation of Delhi-registered BS-IV and below diesel-operated medium goods vehicles (MGVs) and heavy goods vehicles (HGVs), except for essential services.
Dhal Singh, DCP Traffic, New Delhi Range said that they are not letting vehicles that do not comply with Stage IV of GRAP enter the national capital.
