Women in Tamil Nadu died while giving birth to child

A 27-year-old woman in Tamil Nadu’s Krishnagiri died of severe blood loss during childbirth after her husband attempted a natural delivery at home, reportedly using techniques he learned on YouTube. The woman bled because her husband did not cut the umbilical cord properly.

Radhika, the medical officer of the primary health center (PHC), filed a complaint at the police station about the death of Lokanayaki, a resident of Puliampatti near Pochampally.

According to police sources, Lokanayake’s husband Mathesh tried to proceed with labour when his wife started experiencing severe pain. As per reports she delivered the baby at home but died as her umbilical cord was not cut properly during delivery. She fell unconscious and was taken to hospital, where the woman was declared dead on arrival.

Following this, the police registered a case under Section 174 of the CrPC.
