New Delhi: Former cricketer and Congress leader Navjot Singh Sidhu will walk out of Patiala jail on Saturday. He is serving one-year jail imprisonment in a 1988 road rage case.
A tweet, posted via his official Twitter handle confirms his release.
“This is to inform everyone that Sardar Navjot Singh Sidhu will be released from Patiala Jail tomorrow. (As informed by the concerned authorities),” the tweet said.

The Supreme court last year sentenced 1-year of imprisonment to Sidhu in connection with a 1988 road rage case.

On December 27, 1988, Sidhu had a dispute with Patiala resident Gurnam Singh over a parking lot. Sidhu and his friend Rupinder Singh Sandhu allegedly dragged Gurnam Singh out of his car and hit him. Gurnam Singh later died in a hospital. Sidhu was accused by an eyewitness of killing Gurnam Singh by hitting him on the head.
