New Delhi: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Saumitra Khan has written to the National Commission for Women (NCW) urging the latter to “immediately arrest” Trinamool leader Akhil Giri for his derogatory remarks against President Droupadi Murmu.
“I want to inform you that, Trinamool leader Akhil Giri, during a meeting in Nandigram, has collectively commented on the respected President Draupadi Murmu Ji for her looks and her caste.”
“This issue is not only related to women’s respect, it also reflects their thinking. And this type of thinking cannot be left in the society because it is harmful for the society as well as the country,” read the letter.

The BJP leader has also demanded that Giri should be sacked off from the ministerial post. as the “society also do not need this kind of mindset.”
In his public address, the West Bengal minister had said, “We don’t judge anyone by their appearance, we respect the office of the President (of India). But how does our President look?.”
