Bhopal: The Forest Department of Madhya Pradesh informed on Tuesday that one More Cheetah died in Kuno National Park of Sheopur on Tuesday. The Post-mortem will be done on Wednesday. 

According to sources, Cheetah Tejas has died in a mutual conflict as he had a wound on his neck, the post-mortem of the deceased Cheetah Tejas will be done on Wednesday morning, only after which the situation will be clear.

The forest department issued a press note that today, on 11/07/2023 at around 11:00 am, the monitoring team saw injury marks on the upper neck of male Cheetah Tejas (Boma No. 6). This was informed by the monitoring team to the wildlife doctors present at the Palpur headquarters. Wildlife doctors went to the spot and inspected Tejas Cheetah and prima facie found the wounds serious.

After obtaining permission to treat Tejas unconscious, the doctors left for Maukar with preparations. But the male cheetah Tejas was found dead on the spot at around 2 pm. The injuries sustained by Cheetah Tejas are being probed. The cause of death can be ascertained after the post-mortem.

At present, 7 cheetahs including 3 cubs have died in the last four months. The National Tiger Authority has also formed an 11-member Cheetah Steering Committee to save cheetahs.
