How Was The Couple Tracked?

The Sankari sub-division Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) S Raja said that the couple did not seek medical treatment for Sumaina after the assault. She succumbed to her injuries the following day. The couple in a state of panic, purchased a suitcase, stuffed the body inside and drove it to a spot near Sankari in Salem district of neighbouring state Tamil Nadu. They left the suitcase under a bridge in the Vaikuntam area on September 28.

Upon questioning, the police were informed by car’s new owner that a couple from Bengaluru had sold the car to him. The police then traced the couple through their IT employer and found that they both had turned off their phones recently. The couple was located and apprehended in Odisha. They were produced before the magistrate in Sankari and sent to judicial custody at the Salem Central Prison, stated the report.
