Emergency landing at Bengaluru

Bengaluru: A Fly By Wire Premier 1A aircraft made an emergency landing at Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) Airport, Bangalore, after facing technical issues in its nose landing gear. The aircraft, with two pilots and no passengers, landed safely with the nose gear in the up position.

Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) said, “A Fly By wire Premier 1A aircraft VT-KBN operating flight on sector ‘HAL Airport Bangalore to BIAL’ was involved in Airturnback as the nose landing gear couldn’t be retracted after take-off.”

He added, “The aircraft safely landed with the nose gear in the up position. There were two pilots, and no passengers were on board.”

The DGCA posted a video of the incident, which shows an aircraft successfully landing on the runway.

An ‘Airturnback’ occurs when an aircraft returns to the departing aerodrome without having planned to do so. The most common cause of an ‘Airturnback’ is an emergency or unexpected circumstance during or shortly after takeoff, the most common of which being engine failure.
