Tata Motors: Jaguar Land Rover (JLR), which is supported by Tata Motors, on Friday announced a global hiring plan to fill more than 800 new digital and engineering positions throughout the UK, Ireland, USA, India, China, and Hungary. This announcement came amid job cuts by major tech giants. JLR is looking to hire qualified professionals from the digital technology sector as the company transitions to a data-driven and digital-first organisation.

In its press release on its website, JLR said, “following the news of large-scale job losses from technology firms, Jaguar Land Rover is opening a new jobs portal for displaced workers from the tech industry to explore career opportunities, offering hybrid working patterns.”

Major technology companies including Meta, Twitter, Snap, and Microsoft have made layoff announcements, and more like Amazon are expected to follow. To attract digital expertise into the company, JLR announced that a new employment portal will be developed for displaced tech workers in the wake of significant job losses at Meta, Twitter, and other companies.

At JLR, positions in autonomous driving, artificial intelligence, electrification, cloud software, data science, machine learning, and many other fields will be open to worldwide hiring.

Anthony Battle, Chief Information Officer at JLR said, “We are further strengthening our data and digital skills base so we can deliver our Reimagine strategy and become an electric-first business from 2025 and achieve carbon net zero by 2039.”

He added, “Our digital transformation journey is well underway but being able to recruit highly skilled digital workers is an important next step. We are pleased to be able to provide opportunities to talented individuals with digital capabilities.”

The corporation is changing to become an electric-first business, and according to Dave Nesbitt, Director of the JLR Digital Product Platform, “we are building some of the most digitally advanced vehicles ever seen.”

“Through our products we will create new experiences, new levels of intimacy and connected car services for our customers, to give our clients a true modern luxury experience,” Dave added.

The press announcement claims that JLR, with a focus on electrification, digital services, and data, is at the vanguard of the rapidly evolving automotive sector.

JLR is concentrating on improving its internal data capabilities, which are essential to its digital transformation and its goal of providing clients with a contemporary luxury experience.
