New Delhi: Through different welfare programmes and subsidies, recipients have received up to Rs 25 lakh crore in distributions so far.
Pradhan Mantri Jan-Dhan Yojana bank accounts, according to Sunday’s statement from Union Minister of Tourism G Kishan Reddy.
Speaking to media at Jangaon, about 90 kilometres away from here, after Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated and dedicated 75 digital banking facilities to the country, Reddy stated that 50 crore Jan Dhan accounts, or half of them, are held by women.
You are all aware that there was debate as to whether the Jan Dhan accounts were necessary in our nation when they were first established. We have given needy people Rs 25 lakh crore in social initiatives today via Jan Dhan accounts. This is a success, he declared.

Reddy added that the needy had deposited Rs 1.75 lakh crore in Jan Dhan bank accounts as of today.
He added that there were numerous incidents in various States when fraudsters using false identities stole the welfare programmes, pensions, and subsidies of the poor.
Following the commencement of direct benefit transfer (DBT), as many as four crore phoney ration cards and the equivalent number of false LPG cylinder accounts were revoked, according to Reddy.
The Union Minister stated, “Today we can proudly say if the Center sends Rs 100 to a poor man, even as single paise is not diverted.” The Union Minister claimed that former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi had earlier stated only Rs 15 is reaching people as opposed to the Center’s disbursement of Rs 100 as the middlemen were pocketing Rs 85.

Kishan Reddy said he is proposing that the Centre deposit scholarships to SC and ST students straight into their bank accounts.
The Telangana government must disclose the bank account information for those pupils so that Rs 300 crore can be remitted in that direction.
Reddy, who is also the Minister for Development of the North-Eastern Region (DoNER), stated that prior to the implementation of the digitalization system, all work in the north-east was done on paper. Now, however, payments are given and work is tracked through the system.
