Honda India: Automobile manufacturers are revising their diesel engine offers for India in light of the anticipated Real Driving Emissions (RDE) rules, which will likely be put into effect in India in 2025. One of them is the Japanese automaker Honda, which intends to phase out its diesel options on the City and Amaze cars beginning in the first quarter of 2023.

According to sources, Takuya Tsumura, CEO of Honda Cars India, said that diesel engines might not be able to comply with the impending RDE requirements. Even globally, the majority of companies have stopped producing diesel engines, but Indian automakers like Maruti Suzuki have already abandoned diesel motors in favour of all-petrol engines and self-charging hybrids.

WR-V, Honda City, and Amaze are all powered by 1.5-liter diesel engines, which, if reports are to be believed, will be phased out by Honda. A few dealers claim that Honda has halted collecting orders for the diesel-powered WR-V, Jazz, and several Amaze models. In 2013, when diesel engines were at the height of their popularity because to their efficiency, the 1.5-litre diesel engine was introduced with the Amaze.

From the start of the following year, the automaker will also discontinue producing and exporting the 1.6-liter diesel engines made at its Tapukara, Rajasthan, factory. The diesel CR-V is powered by the 1.6-liter mill, which is mostly exported to Thailand.
