Budget 2023: Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented the Union Budget 2023-24 in Parliament on Wednesday (February 1). FM Sitharaman announced in her budget speech that the Centre has decided to increase the PM Awas Yojana Fund by 66% to Rs 79,000 crore.

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said during the presentation of the Union Budget 2023-24 in Parliament that the PM Awas Yojana outlay is being increased by 66% to over Rs 79,000 crore.

House for everyone

In the Union Budget 2022-23, the Finance Minister proposed an allocation of Rs 48,000 crore for the government’s initiative of Housing for All. The government had promised that 80 lakh houses would be completed for eligible beneficiaries of PMAY, both rural and urban.

As per the data shared by the government, a total of two crore houses have been constructed till September 29, 2022, out of the 2.46 crore houses sanctioned. Of this, 69% were partly or wholly owned by women.

Know PM Awas Yojana?

Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana is an initiative of the Government of India aimed at providing affordable housing to the urban poor by the year 2022. The scheme was first launched on 25 June 2015. The implementation period of PMAY-Urban Scheme has been extended till 31st December 2024. This decision has been taken by the Union Cabinet after the request of Union Territories and States. Earlier, the target was to provide houses by March 2022.

Who will get the benefit of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana?
Any person with an income of less than three lakhs who does not have any house can take advantage of this. For this, assistance of 2.50 lakh is given. In this the money is given in three installments.

How to apply for PM Awas Yojana

  • First of all visit the official website pmaymis.gov.in
  • At the top of the website, you will find the option of ‘Citizen Assessment’. Click on it.
    Here you will get many options.
  • After this you have to fill the Aadhaar number and click on check.
  • After this an online form will open.
  • Fill the requested information in this form.
  • After filling the application read the complete information once again. Submit after you are satisfied.
  • After submission, an application number will be displayed on your screen. Take a print out of it and save it for future.
