New Delhi: Banks in both the public and private sectors will be closed nationwide on up to 21 days in October, including the second and fourth Saturdays and Sundays. In October of this year, banks would be closed for up to 14 days, excluding weekends, according a list provided by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). Due to different holidays, banks will be closed in some states or cities. It should be noted that every month’s first and third Saturdays are still business hours for banks.

Holidays under the Negotiable Instruments Act, Holiday under the Negotiable Instruments Act and Real-Time Gross Settlement Holiday, and Banks’ Closing of Accounts are the three categories into which holidays are divided by the Reserve Bank of India. People are urged to confirm the holiday date in their local states when scheduling bank-related tasks. The RBI has given notice of the holidays listed below.

Saturday, October 1, 2022: Half-Yearly Bank Account Closing in Gangtok
Sunday, October 2, 2022: Gandhi Jayanti and a holiday

Durga Puja (Maha Ashtami) will be held in Agartala, Bhubaneswar, Guwahati, Imphal, Kolkata, Patna, and Ranchi on Monday, October 3, 2022.

Tuesday, October 4, 2022: Agartala, Bengaluru, Bhubaneswar, Chennai, Gangtok, Guwahati, Kanpur, Kochi, Kolkata, Lucknow, Patna, Ranchi, Shillong, and Thiruvananthapuram will celebrate Durga Puja, Dussehra (Maha Navami), Ayudha pooja, and Janmotsav of Srimanta Sankardeva.

Wednesday, October 5, 2022: Durga Puja, Vijaya Dashmi’s Dussehra, and Srimanta Sankardeva’s Janmotsav
Thursday, October 6, 2022: Durga Puja (Dashain) in Gangtok
Friday, October 7, 2022: Durga Puja (Dashain) in Gangtok

Second Saturday, October 8, 2022, is a holiday and Milad-i-Sherif/Eid-i-Milad-ul-Nabi (the birthday of the Prophet Muhammad) in Bhopal, Jammu, Kochi, Srinagar, and Thiruvananthapuram.
