7th Pay Commission: More than 1 crore government employees and pensioners can get good news soon. If all goes well as planned, the central government will hike the dearness allowance and dearness relief of its employees for the 18-month corona outbreak. In fact, central employees and pensioners are continually pleading with the government to reinstate the DA that was suspended under the Corona administration.

Many meetings, discussion have taken place between the finance ministry officers and the concerned departments of the employees’ organizations on DA and DR hike issue and the government can now take a major decision on this soon, sources said. However, no official statement has come yet from the government on this. It is expected that in view of the ever-increasing demand of the employees, the government can pay it soon.

According to the information, Shiv Gopal Mishra, Secretary (Staff Side) of the National Council, in a letter to the Cabinet Secretary, has referred to the decision of the Supreme Court dated 8 February 2021, in which the Supreme Court had said that due to the economic crisis, the salaries of the employees and Pension can be stopped temporarily, but it will have to be given back to the employees when the situation improves. This is the right of the employees. Payment should be made as per law.

The Central Government had increased the dearness allowance by 11 percent from July 2021. After that the dearness allowance has been increased three more times. The total dearness allowance reached 38 per cent. But, after being frozen for one and a half years, there was no talk about DA arrears. The government has clarified that dearness allowance was frozen during the Corona period. In this case there is no option of arrears.

According to a rough estimate, the DA arrears of Level-1 employees range from Rs 11,880 to Rs 37,554. Employees at Level-13 (7th CPC Basic Pay Scale Rs 1,23,100 to Rs 2,15,900) or Level-14 (Pay Scale) draw a DA of Rs 1,44,200 to Rs 2,18,200. The amount of arrears will be different for different grades of employees.

Actually dearness allowance and dearness relief are given to government employees and public sector employees and pensioners. DA is given to improve the standard of living of government employees. It is given to government employees, public sector employees and pensioners. The reason for giving this is that even in the rising inflation, the standard of living of the employees should remain better.
