7th Pay Commission: In a significant development for employees benefiting from the 7th Pay Commission, a crucial change has been implemented in the promotion rules. The Central Government has issued an office memorandum, specifically addressing promotion-related regulations, providing clarity to central employees.

Revised Minimum Requirement for Promotion:

The change primarily focuses on the minimum requirements for employee promotions under the Seventh Pay Commission. The Defense Ministry has also issued an official order outlining these modifications. This amendment applies to all defence employees falling under the purview of the Pay Commission. The new guidelines also establish criteria for the promotion of civilian employees in the defence services.

Promotion Criteria Defined:

According to the Ministry’s notification, different levels of work experience requirements have been defined for employee promotions. To be eligible for promotion:

Employees at Level 1 are required to have 2 to 3 years of work experience.

Level 2 to 4 employees must possess 3 to 8 years of experience.

For promotions beyond Level 4, employees up to Level 17 should have experience ranging from one to 12 years.

These instructions have been implemented with immediate effect, granting all eligible employees the benefit of promotion. However, it is essential to meet the specified criteria and eligibility for promotion.

4 Per cent Increase in Dearness Allowance (DA):

It is worth noting that a four per cent increase in dearness allowance (DA) for central government employees in the upcoming July half-year is anticipated and is considered confirmed. The formal announcement of this increase is forthcoming, with proposals currently in preparation. This raise will bring the dearness allowance to a total of 46%. Additionally, the employees of the Defense Ministry will also enjoy the benefits of these promotions.

This update will undoubtedly bring positive changes and increased opportunities for employees under the Seventh Pay Commission.
