Overall Driving Performance
Both Tata Nexon EV and Mahindra XUV400 provide a similar performance when they are put on City drive mode and Fun setting respectively. In low throttle applications, both the EVs limit torque. However, in the case of Nexon EV Max, the ramp-up is more linear. Hence, you will get a more polished performance in Nexon EV than XUV400.
While the Tata Nexon EV Max makes 143PS/250 Nm, the Mahindra XUV400 makes 150PS/310 Nm usually. However, in City drive mode, the Tata EV reduces the performance to 98PS/170 Nm. The Mahindra EV, on the other hand, limits its top speed to just 95 kmph when put on Fun setting mode.

The ARAI-certified mileage of both SUVs is similar. While Nexon EV Max’s certified range is 453 km, XUV400’s range is 456 km. However, when tested on city roads, the actual mileage was significantly low for both. In the real world, you will get a 298 km and 267 km overall range in Tata Nexon EV Max and Mahindra XUV400 respectively.
Both cars provide a similar fast charging facility. While it took 56 minutes to charge 80% with fast charge on XUV400, Nexon EV Max took 50 minutes.

In real-world conditions, the Tata Nexon EV Max performed better than the Mahindra XUV400 in terms of efficiency on both highways and city rides. Both electric vehicles can be used for daily commute and weekend trips. In that case, you’ll have to charge just twice a week.
