The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways revealed in its 2022 report that 9.5 out of every 1 lakh people lost their lives due to fatal accidents on the roads. Given this situation, it is crucial to choose a vehicle that ensures the safety of the driver as well as the passengers. The Global NCAP (New Car Assessment Programme) regularly conducts crash tests on vehicles to find out how safe they are for the occupants. Here is a list of the top 10 safest cars in India as per the Global NCAP ratings as of April 1, 2024.

Top 10 Safest Cars in India 2024

Tata Harrier

  • GNCAP Rating (Adult Occupant): 5 Stars
  • GNCAP Rating (Child Occupant): 5 Stars 
  • Price: Rs 15.49 lakh to Rs 24.49 lakh
  • Launch Year: 2019

According to the Global NCAP adult safety ratings, the Tata Harrier is the safest car in India. To prioritise safety, the car boasts six airbags that come as standard, while the top-end variants also get an additional driver knee airbag. Other key safety features include an Electronic Stability Program (ESP), a panic break alert, and ISOFIX child seat mounts.

Tata Safari

  • GNCAP Rating (Adult Occupant): 5 Stars
  • GNCAP Rating (Child Occupant): 5 Stars 
  • Price: Rs 16.19 lakh to Rs 25.49 lakh
  • Launch Year: October 17, 2023

The safety features of the Tata Safari include six airbags, a hill-hold assist, ISOFIX child seat mounts, traction control, and ESP. Three cars from Tata are among the top 10 safest cars in India in 2024. This clearly shows Tata’s commitment towards producing vehicles that prioritise safety.
