Cashless treatment for the victims of road accidents. A Profound effort under which a victim of road accidents would be able to vail free health care up to the Rs 1.5 lakh, per accident per person. Such was stated by Union Minister Nitin Gadkari on Tuesday- 7th January 2025.
As per the statement, the scheme would be applicable on all road accidents caused by the use of motor vehicles on the road.
As per further correspondence on the matter it has been revealed that NHA National Highway Agency would implement an agency for the same, the agency would comply with Police, Hospitals as well as state health agencies to provide victims with the best possible support at the time of Injury.
Use of a IT platform For Implementing The Scheme
The program would be implemented through a IT platform, combining the functionalities of the E-detailed accident report systems.
“The broad contours of the pilot program are — victims entitled to cashless treatment up to a maximum of ₹1.5 lakh per accident per person for a maximum period of 7 days from date of the accident,” Mr. Gadkari said while addressing a press conference.
The Nascent View Behind The Proposal
The pilot program that headed this initiated in Chandigarh- and was aimed at establishing a matrix an ecosystem for providing those injured in road accidents with proper care in case of road accidents in the golden hour. This project was then further expanded to Six states.
A Overall Change
As per the Road and Transport minister MR Nitin Gadkari it has also been discussed that government should try to examine the labour laws to frame a policy for fixing working hours of commercial drivers. Such foresightedness would drastically reduce the number of accidents reported on roads.
Beyond that, plans for the establishment of a pan India driver training institute have also been brought forward. Mr. Gadkari also talked about the implementation of ADAS in trucks for further vehicle safety. Such comprehensive step by step plans would drastically reduce the possibility of road accidents in the nation by working on the key specific issues such as lack of proper training and extraneous working hours.
