New Delhi: Nissan unveiled its future plans for India today (October 19) as the automaker unveiled the upcoming Nissan SUVs in India namely: X-Trail, Qashqai and Juke. The automaker also confirmed that testing has begun on the X-Trail and Qashqai, while the viability of the Nissan Juke will also be tested.

Nissan aims to assess the suitability of SUVs for the Indian car market and hence the tests will assess each vehicle’s ability to meet the needs of buyers. Nissan is testing these three SUVs at its Chennai manufacturing facility.

Focusing specifically on their adaptability to Indian roads and various terrains, Nissan said that once testing is complete, the X-Trail will be the first to go on sale, followed by the Nissan Qashqai and the Nissan Juke.

“The Indian market has unlimited potential and it is critical that we introduce the best range of vehicles to match what modern Indian consumers want and need,” said Frank Torres, President, Nissan India.

Nissan X-Trail

The Nissan X-Trail is available internationally in three powertrains – a mild-hybrid turbo petrol engine with 163 hp and 300 Nm; powerful e-Power hybrid engine with 204 hp and 330 Nm of torque; and an all-wheel drive version of the powerful hybrid engine with a power of 213 hp and a torque of 330 Nm (front) and 195 Nm (rear).

Nissan Qashqai

Nissan India today unveiled the Qashqai SUV along with its e-power hybrid technology. The Qashqai comes with a 12.3-inch fully digital instrument cluster, a similarly sized infotainment screen, shift-by-wire gear selector, connected car technology as well as ADAS functionality.

Nissan Juke

The Nissan Juke gets a 1.0-liter three-cylinder engine that produces 115 hp and 200 Nm paired with a six-speed manual or seven-speed dual-clutch DCT with paddle shifters. The Juke gets an eight-inch touchscreen infotainment system along with in-car Wi-Fi.

The success of Nissan Magnite in India

The Nissan Magnite became an instant success in the compact SUV segment in India. Nissan launched its Magnite RED edition in July 2022, available in 1.0L MT, 1.0L Turbo MT and 1.0L Turbo CVT variants to offer a range-topping option.

It received a 4-star NCAP safety rating. The RED Edition retains R16 diamond-cut alloy wheels, LED fog lights and LED Daytime Running Lights (DRLs) to complement its updated presence.
