New Delhi: Maruti Suzuki’s soon-to-be-launched new mid-size SUV Grand Vitara has already created a buzz among buyers. Proof of this is the fact that the model received over 55,000 reservations even before its launch. As bookings continue to pour in, the waiting time for selected variants has reached up to 5.5 months.
In the mid-size SUV space, the new Maruti Grand Vitara will face the challenge of the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos and the newly introduced Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder. It will be a premium Nexa offering that will be released in the third week of September 2022.

The automaker has already confirmed that the Maruti Grand Vitara will come in 6 trims – Sigma, Delta, Zeta, Alpha, Zeta+ and Alpha+. With the exception of the Zeta+ and Alpha+ variants, all trims will be available with a 103bhp 1.5-litre petrol mild hybrid powertrain and a 5-speed manual gearbox. A 6-speed automatic transmission will be available from the Delta trim.
It should be noted that Maruti Suzuki’s AllGrip Select AWD system can only be had with a manual transmission on the Zeta and Alpha trims. The Zeta+ and Alpha+ variants will be available with a powerful 1.5-liter hybrid drive with 114 horsepower. The unit will be paired with an e-CVT transmission.

The Zeta+ and Alpha+ trims come with some exclusive features like leather steering wheel, black leather seats, ventilated front seats, 360-degree camera, upgraded sound system, puddle lamps, Head-Up Display, wireless charger, 7.0-inch fully digital instrument cluster, ambient dashboard lighting, panoramic sunroof, dark gray front and rear skid plates, silver roof rails, tire pressure monitoring, silver roof rails and two-tone paint schemes.
The standard equipment list includes electrically adjustable mirrors, steering wheel controls, 4.2-inch TFT display in the instrument cluster, automatic climate control, rear AC vents, keyless entry and exit, rear center armrest, rear parking sensors, dual airbags, ABS with EBD , ESP with hill, Isofix mount, 3-point seat belts for all sets and more.
