New Delhi: Maruti Suzuki is all set to launch its first Nexa-exclusive compact crossover in the country. This is Maruti Franks. The model could be available for sale in March 2023. Its prices can be released next month. Its price is expected to be around Rs 8 lakh for the entry-level variant and around Rs 11 lakh for the top variant. It will be sold from Nexa dealerships. It will bridge the gap between the Baleno and the Brezza in Maruti’s portfolio.
After launch, the new Maruti compact crossover will compete with cars like Tata Punch, Renault Kiger, Nissan Magnite. Their price range is Rs 6 lakh-Rs 9.54 lakh, Rs 6 lakh-Rs 10.77 lakh and Rs 5.97 lakh-Rs 10.79 lakh respectively. This sub-4 meter SUV will also take on the likes of Tata Nexon, Kia Sonet, Hyundai Venue and Mahindra XUV300, whose prices start at Rs 7.70 lakh, Rs 7.69 lakh, Rs 7.62 lakh and Rs 8.41 lakh respectively.

The new Maruti Fronx SUV model lineup will be made available in five trims – Sigma, Delta, Delta+, Zeta and Alpha. The range-topping Alpha trim will get features like 360 degree camera, head-up display (HUD), leather wrapped steering wheel, cruise control, 16-inch diamond cut alloy wheels and dual-tone color scheme.
The standard feature kit includes dual airbags, reverse parking sensors, hill hold assist, rear defogger, electronic stability program, tilt adjustment for steering, powered windows and 60:40 rear seat split. It also gets automatic climate control, keyless entry and go, fabric seat upholstery and dual-tone interiors.
The new Maruti compact crossover has been given the option of 1.0 liter, 3-cylinder turbo petrol Boosterjet and 1.2 liter, 4-cylinder NA petrol engine. It gets three gearboxes – 5-speed manual (standard), 6-speed torque converter automatic (turbo-petrol) and 5-speed AMT (NA petrol only).
