Despite 52-Week Wait, Mahindra Thar Sees Unwavering Demand with 71,000 Pending Orders

Three years post-launch, Mahindra Thar SUV maintains high demand in India, available in two variants and various colors, with petrol and diesel engine options and manual or automatic transmissions. The current waiting period is up to 52 weeks nationwide, with RWD version most sought-after. Mahindra is yet to fulfill 2.26 lakh bookings, with 71,000 pending, while new bookings continue at 7,000 units monthly. A five-door variant is planned for later release.

Even three years after its launch in the country, the Mahindra Thar SUV remains in high demand. Offered in different variants and various colors, it comes with both petrol and diesel engine options, along with manual and automatic transmissions.

Mahindra recently disclosed that the Thar currently has an average waiting period of up to 52 weeks or 12 months. This waiting period applies nationwide, with the rear-wheel-drive (RWD) version experiencing the highest demand.

As of February 2024, Mahindra has received approximately 2.26 lakh bookings. Among these, there are still 71,000 pending orders for the Thar model that have been booked but not yet fulfilled. The model continues to attract new bookings at a rate of 7,000 units per month. Later this year, the brand intends to introduce the five-door variant of the Thar, which has been spotted undergoing testing on multiple occasions.

The Mahindra Thar’s price ranges from Rs. 11.25 Lakh for the base model to Rs. 17.20 Lakh for the top model. It is available in 15 variants, starting from the AX Opt 4-Str Hard Top Diesel and ending with the top model, the Mahindra Thar LX 4-Str Hard Top Diesel AT.
