New Delhi: In National Capital Delhi, two-wheeler drivers are fearlessly flouting the traffic rules. If you have a look at the statistics of Delhi Traffic Police, from January 1 to April 15, 2023, the police issued a Challan worth 1.70 lahks for not wearing helmets while riding.
If we look at the statistics of the last few years, the number of challans has increased drastically. According to the Delhi Traffic Police, a total of 170,284 two-wheeler drivers were fined between January 1 and April 15. Whereas in the year 2022, this number was 114,908. In 2021, the numbers of Chalan were 34,346 only.
Under the Motor Vehicles Act, two-wheeler riders can be fined up to Rs 2,000 for not wearing a helmet or not wearing a helmet properly. It is mandatory to have the helmet ISI mark. The key strip of the helmet should be tied. It should not be broken.
