The automakers capitalize on the growing demand in the 7-seater segment, introducing a variety of new models, often leaving many potential and budget-conscious buyers confused. So, this article explores the best 7-seater cars under 12 lakh in India.

1. Maruti Suzuki Eeco (Rs. 5.56 Lakh – 5.58 Lakh)

An A-segment MUV, the Maruti Suzuki Eeco comes in both 5- and 7-seater versions and two variants: Eeco 7 Seater STD and Eeco Tour V 7 Seater STD. Although the Eeco 7 Seater STD does not offer features like AC and an infotainment system, it is a practical and fuel-efficient vehicle. Offered with two engine options – a 1.2L normal petrol and 1.2L CNG bi-fuel, Eeco’s petrol version churns out 73PS of power and 98Nm of torque. The CNG variant, on the other hand, generates 63PS of power and 85Nm of torque. 

2. Renault Triber (Rs 6.00 Lakh to Rs 8.98 Lakh)

A B2-segment MPV, the Renault Triber gets compact proportions but is still spacious enough for 7 passengers. What increases its value-proposition are its peppy engine, modern design and feature-rich cabin, making it a strong contender in this segment and one of the best 7-seater cars under 12 lakh in India. The Triber comes with two powertrain options and eight variants. A 1.0L normal petrol engine gets 2 transmission options: a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed automated manual transmission (AMT). This power plant churns out 72PS of power and 96Nm of torque.

Safety features include ABS with EBD, ESP, 4 airbags,  tyre pressure monitoring system, hill start assist, reverse parking sensors, traction control, and more.

3. Maruti Suzuki Ertiga (Rs. 8.70 lakh to Rs. 9.83 lakh)

Maruti Suzuki Ertiga is another car that is among the best 7-seater cars under 12 lakh in India. The Ertiga comes equipped with a refined petrol and CNG engine offering great mileage. It is available with a 5 petrol-manual, 3 petrol-automatic, and 3 CNG-manual variants in the market. The LXI variant of Ertiga boasts features like rear seat recline, front and rear power windows, adjustable headrests for all rows, and flat-folding 3rd-row seats.The VXI (O) variant offers features like USB and AUX connectivity, steering-mounted audio controls, an audio system with Bluetooth connectivity, and 4 speakers.

Both these variants also boast features like full wheel caps, projector headlamps, manual AC, multi-info display with colour TFT screen, and cooled centre console with cupholders.

4. Kia Carens

Kia Carens MPV made its debut in December 2021 and was launched in India in 2022. A rival to Maruti’s Ertiga and XL6, Carens boasts a more modern design with premium features. Offered in seven trims – Premium, Prestige, Prestige Plus, Luxury, Luxury (O), Luxury Plus and X-Line, the Carens comes with petrol and diesel options at a price tag starting from Rs 10.45 lakh (ex-showroom).

5. Mahindra Bolero and Bolero Neo

Mahindra Bolero and Bolero Neo are not MPVs but this duo comes with seven-seat configurations, making their way to the list of 7-seater cars under 12 lakh in India. Both the cars are offered with a diesel-only option. While the Mahindra Bolero comes with a starting price of Rs 9.79 lakh (ex-showroom), the prices for Neo start at Rs 9.64 lakh (ex-showroom).
