Tata Curvv vs Tata Curvv EV: Tata Motors took the wraps off the Curvv at the 2024 Bharat Mobility Expo held at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi earlier this month. A near-production avatar of the Tata Curvv with a few design changes was witnessed at the event. It was in 2022 that we saw the electric version of the SUV when Tata unveiled the Curvv EV concept.

The recently revealed ICE (internal combustion engine) version gets the same overall shape and size as the original EV version, however, there are some notable design differences. Let’s have a look:

Tata Curvv vs Tata Curvv EV: Spotting the Differences Up Front

The Tata Curvv ICE boasts a black grille having horizontal chrome elements, while the EV concept gets a closed-off grille painted in body colour.

Furthermore, the Curvv has vertically arranged headlights similar to those on other updated Tata models. On the other hand, the Curvv EV gets triangular-shaped headlights with multiple lighting elements.

The DRLs (Daytime Running Lamps) are almost the same on both Tata Curvv and Tata Curvv EV, however, the bumper design is different. While both feature a black front bumper, the Curvv ICE gets horizontal chrome elements.

The rear provides a clear difference between the design of the two cars. The same LED taillight setup is available on both, but the Curvv EV concept also features lighting elements on the bumper and around the rear windshield.

The brake lights as well as the rear bumper are also different. The Tata Curvv ICE gets a skid plate, which is missing on the Tata Curvv EV concept.

Subtle Distinctions: Side Profile Differences

The Curvv EV and the ICE share the same overall design and silhouette, however, there are some noticeable differences. The rear spoiler is positioned slightly lower on the Curvv ICE as compared to the EV. The design of the door panel is also different.

The biggest difference, however, lies in the design of the alloy wheels. The Curvv ICE features 18-inch petal-shaped dual-tone alloy wheels, while the Curvv EV has larger dual-tone alloy wheels.

Behind the Wheel: A Look Inside the Cabins

Talking about the dashboard layout and features inside, there are a few differences. Both feature Tata’s new steering wheel with a backlit Tata logo, large infotainment screens, and driver display and a touch-based climate control panel.

However, the cabin of Curvv EV has a cleaner look due to the minimalist design elements. On the other hand, the ICE-powered Curvv receives some design changes such as a 4-spoke steering wheel, a gloss black stripe on the dashboard, a different theme and a different casing for the digital system driver’s display.

Expected Launch and Price

The Tata Curvv EV will be launched first. It is likely to see the light of the day between July and September 2024. The electric car is expected to arrive with a starting price of Rs 20 lakh (ex-showroom). The petrol and diesel version of Curvv will be rolled out three to four months after the electric car. The expected starting price is Rs 10.50 lakh (ex-showroom).

The Curvv EV will take on MG ZS EV and the Hyundai Kona Electric. The ICE Curvv will compete with the likes of Kia Seltos, Hyundai Creta, Volkswagen Taigun, Skoda Kushaq, Maruti Grand Vitara and Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder in the compact SUV segment.
