The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) released a drone video late on October 18 which showed Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar sitting on a sofa, perhaps gravely injured in a devastated Gaza apartment. The IDF international spokesperson claimed that it was ‘raw footage of Yahya Sinwar’s last moments’ in a post on X.
In the video, Sinwar appeared to throw a stick at the drone approaching him, with his right arm severely injured.
Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz confirmed in a statement, “The IDF soldiers eliminated the mass murderer Yahya Sinwar, responsible for the massacre and atrocities of October 7.”
According to media reports, the Israeli military spokesperson, Daniel Hagari said Sinwar was identified only as a fighter at the time the video was taken. The military fired another shell into the building, thus killing him. As reported by Hagari, Sinwar was found with a bulletproof vest and grenades.

However, Hamas has not commented on the Sinwar’s killing yet.
Hagari further explained that Sinwar fled into a nearby building after sustaining injuries due to gunfire. Sinwar attempted to escape but was ultimately eliminated by Israeli forces, he added.
Netanyahu Reaction To Sinwar’s Death
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu confirmed on Thursday, “Sinwar was killed in Rafah by the brave soldiers of the Israel Defense Forces. While this is not the end of the war in Gaza, it’s the beginning of the end.”
