Who’s Behind Donald Trump Assassination Attempt? Ex-US President Blames Biden-Harris ‘Rhetoric’

The motives behind both attacks-the earlier one that happened in Pennsylvania-remain to date under investigation by the authorities.

Donald Trump recently made headlines by claiming, without evidence, that words from President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris labeling him a threat to democracy inspired a recent assassination attempt against him. Despite his history of inflammatory rhetoric and calls for prosecuting his political opponents, Trump said his rivals’ words incited violence against him.

Only 50 days are left for this year’s presidential election, and with the issue of early voting underway in several places, the chaotic trend of this electoral campaign has been nothing short of sensational. The latest episode was when Trump narrowly escaped an incident in Florida, to which he initially welcomed efforts from Secret Service agents protecting him but did not lose the opportunity to point fingers at his political rivals.

Reaction By Trump To The Incident

However, following the incident, Trump launched a verbal attack on his opponents, declaring their words were inciting attacks on him even as he insisted that he was the one who would rescue the country from the men he said were ruining it. This is away from how he reacted to a similar event during which he was grazed by a bullet at a rally in Pennsylvania in July. After that event, Trump had called for national unity but quickly returned to cursing Democrats.

The motives behind both attacks-the earlier one that happened in Pennsylvania-remain to date under investigation by the authorities. However, Trump has framed both incidents as politically motivated and blamed his political rivals.

Anti-Trump Sentiment
His rhetoric has long been under fire, with charges that he resorted to inflammatory language which only instigates violence and controversy. He once threatened to prosecute his political adversaries. And now, he maintains that the felony charges against him have political motivations. A running mate of Trump, Ohio Senator JD Vance described what his running mate had said, claiming that the sharp words among Democrats in terms of likely exposed Trump to violence.

Reaction Of Biden To The Incident
Unlike Trump, President Joe Biden kept his distance from the political saga. He condemned the assassination attempt and urged an end to political violence. He pointed out that there is a need to preserve unity and peace because such attacks can only divide people from one another. Biden also restated that the situation is in control since the Secret Service evaluates the president’s security situation.

Impact On Campaigning Trail
Trump was scheduled to spend Monday at his Mar-a-Lago home in Florida and resume campaigning on Tuesday with events scheduled in Flint, Mich, and later in New York, Washington, and North Carolina. Vice President Kamala Harris was also on the move, meeting with labor unions, and set to campaign across key swing states like Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.
