Who was Chandra Nagamallaiah?
An Indian national, Chandra Nagamallaiah was attacked with a machete and beheaded, allegedly after an argument with his employee at a motel. Chandra Mouli Bob Nagamallaiah, 50-year-old, was originally from Karnataka and worked as a manager at a motel in the United States city of Dallas. He was known as “Bob” to friends and family. His friends have described him as a loving husband, devoted father, and kind soul who touched the lives of everyone he knew.
What had happened?
The incident came to light on Thursday and the accused identified as Yordanis Cobos-Martinez, was arrested. He has been charged with the capital murder of his manager. The attack took place at the Downtown Suites motel.
Local media cited an eyewitness to the tragic incident, who stated that she and Cobos-Martinez were cleaning a room at the motel when Nagamallaiah approached and told the accused not to use the broken washing machine. The 37-year-old Martinez was reportedly upset that Nagamallaiah was speaking to the witness to translate instead of addressing him directly. He then took a machete and stabbed Nagamallaiah multiple times. Nagamallaiah attempted to run through the parking lot but was chased by Martinez. His (Nagamallaiah) wife and son tried to stop Martinez, but in vain.
Reportedly, the accused then cut the victim’s head and kicked it. A video of Martinez picking up the severed head and carrying it to the dumpster has gone viral on social media.
