Republican candidate Valentina Gomez is once again in the headlines for her anti-Muslim stance. Gomez came under netizens’ attack after posting a campaign-style video in which she vowed to “end Islam” while setting fire to a copy of the Quran. The footage which went viral on social media was later deleted, but drew sharp criticism.
“Muslims are raping and killing on their way to taking over CHRISTIAN nations,” she wrote in a now removed post. Gomez started the video by saying, “Your daughters will be raped and your sons beheaded, unless we stop Islam once and for all.” After uttering these words, she set the Quran on fire and concluded the video, with words: “Powered by Jesus Christ.”
Well, what is interesting is despite receiving backlash, Gomez has refused to apologise for her action. In another post Gomez stated that she stands by her actions and will not bow down before a specific “book.” While replying to a post that demanded her condemnation, she wrote, “I stand by my actions & I will never bend a knee to the book that is responsible for the massacre of October 7th, took the lives of 13 U.S service members at Abbey Gate, & calls for our assassination.”
