Who Is Taleb A?
The accused, identified as Taleb A, 50-year-old man, hails from Saudi Arabia. According to officials, he had been residing in Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. He was born in Hofuf, a city in Saudi Arabia, in 1974. He was working as a doctor and was residing in Germany since 2006. Taleb specialised in psychiatry and psychotherapy.
Taleb holds a permanent residence permit, as he was recognised as a refugee in Germany in 2016. As per reports, he is an atheist and faced persecution in Germany. He had described himself as the most aggressive critic of Islam in history’.
According to the officials, he carried out at the Magdeburg Christmas Market attack alone.
India Today reported that he is wanted by Saudi Arabia on charges related to terrorism and smuggling girls from the Middle East to EU countries. Germany has refused to extradite him to Saudi Arabia and granted him asylum despite the charges against him.
Earlier, Regional Prime Minister of Saxony-Anhalt, Reiner Haseloff said, “We are currently in the process of compiling all further data and also carrying out the interrogation. According to the current information, it is an individual perpetrator, so there is no longer any danger to the city because we were able to arrest him.”

In a tragic incident, at least two people were killed and over 60 injured in a suspected attack at a Christmas market in Magdeburg, Germany, on Friday evening. The attack occurred when a car deliberately rammed into a crowd of people at the market, resulting in multiple fatalities and injuries. The incident, which unfolded in the heart of the popular holiday market, left 68 people injured. Of these, 15 sustained serious injuries, with 37 others moderately injured and 16 suffering from minor injuries.
