Marjorie Taylor Greene announced her resignation, saying she was labeled a “traitor” for speaking out in support of women she described as being raped and trafficked by powerful men.

Announcing her resignation, Greene said she was labelled a “traitor” for speaking out in support of women she described as being raped and trafficked by rich, powerful men. “Standing up for American women who were raped at 14, trafficked and used by rich powerful men should not result in me being called a traitor and threatened by the President of the United States, whom I fought for,” Greene said.  Notably, Trump had earlier called Greene a “traitor” and “wacky”, adding that he would endorse a challenger against her if she ran for re-election.

A Trump loyalist

Before running for Congress, she extended support to calls to execute prominent Democratic Party politicians, including Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama. She came out as a strong supporter of Trump during his first term, backing his efforts to overturn the 2020 election and promoted his false claims that the election was rigged. However, she publicly criticised Trump during his second presidency due to his reluctance to publicly releasing the Epstein files. In response, Trump has revoked his endorsement of Greene.
