Logina Salah of Egypt scripted history by becoming the first Miss Universe contestant to participate with vitiligo. She made into top 30 at the grand finale of the Miss Universe 2024 beauty pageant, held in Mexico City on Sunday. This also marked Egypt’s first placement in the competition.
Logina is an Egyptian influencer, model and make-up artist. She has over 1.8 million followers on Instagram. She shares content on skin positivity and aims to break the stereotypes pertaining to beauty standards and skin conditions.
Who Is Logina?
34-year-old, Logina is a mother of one and is based in Dubai. She shares a great bond with her 10-year-old daughter. She wrote on Instagram, “Being your mom will always be my greatest achievement, before any title or anything I have in my life.. I want you to remember me as the mother that didn’t give up on her dreams or compromised her purpose. I want to be your role model of resilience, confident and determination.”
She is a make-up artist and has got license from the Beverly Hills International Beauty School in New York. She regularly posts make-up tutorials and creative looks on her social media.
Logina made her runway debut in 2023 at Dubai Fashion Week. She is also a businesswoman and has created a platform entitled Beyond The Surface Movement. She aims to raise awareness for social issues and inspire young women and girls.
Logina’s Journey With Vitiligo
She posts about her personal journey and urges people to embrace their skin as it is.
On her journey with vitiligo she said, “For many years I used to think of my patches (Vitiligo) as a source of embarrassment and shame, and today’s dress is inspired by how I celebrate my patches everyday now and I see them as colourful as the patches on this dress and the uneven patches on this dress is how I see myself and my skin as imperfectly imperfect. We are re-writing history and paving the way to a peaceful free of bullying universe.”
Logina’s Journey At Miss Universe 2024
She called her journey at Miss Universe ‘incredible’ and thanked everyone for being with her in the journey. She reinstated, “Let’s continue shaping a world free from hate and discrimination.”
Logina attributed Egypt’s placement in the semi-finals of Miss Universe to unwavering decision, hard work and mindset that always strives for greatness. She wrote, “WE MADE HISTORY, I am beyond thrilled and incredibly proud to see Egypt make it to the semi-finals of Miss Universe!
