Canadian authorities arrested 36-year-old Khalistani terrorist Inderjeet Singh Gosal on multiple charges related to illegal firearm possession on Tuesday, September 22. A close aide of designated terrorist Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, Gosal was the principal organizer of the banned Sikhs for Justice (SFJ) group. He took over the US-based Khalistani outfit SFJ after Hardeep Singh Nijjar’s killing.
Gosal, along with his two associates, was arrested while traveling from Brampton to Ottawa by the Peel Police. All three individuals are expected to face formal charges and imprisonment. His arrest comes shortly after India and Canada agreed last week to work towards a ‘new chapter’ in bilateral ties.
Who is Inderjeet Singh Gosal?
Inderjeet Singh Gosal, a resident of Brampton, was arrested last year for an attack at a Hindu temple located in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). However, Peel Regional Police later released him on conditions. He is allegedly linked to Babbar Khalsa International, a designated terror organisation.
Gosal has proactively engaged in the Khalistan referendum movement. He is often referred to as the personal security officer to Sikhs For Justice (SFJ) chief Pannu during his visits to Canada. He was also actively involved in orchestrating the violence at Indian consulate establishments in Canada.
According to Canadian police, Inderjeet Singh Gosal was among the 13 citizens of Canada who were subjects of criminal violence targeting pro-Khalistan elements. He told a Canadian news website, “As a result of being the organiser of the Khalistan referendum, I am facing an imminent threat to my life from the agents and proxies of the government of India, but I have to continue.”
