Targeting of Hezbollah Leaders
In recent weeks, Israel has been aggressively targeting Hezbollah’s leadership, using explosives concealed in communication devices such as pagers and walkie-talkies. Airstrikes on Hezbollah’s command centers in Beirut have also been carried out, including a strike that killed Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah.

U.S. Military Bolsters Presence in Middle East

Over the weekend, Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin ordered an increased U.S. military presence in the region, with the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln and its destroyers remaining in place. Additional air-support capabilities have been deployed, and more U.S. troops are on standby. The USS Wasp Amphibious Ready Group’s deployment in the eastern Mediterranean has also been extended to deter further violence and protect U.S. interests.
