The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on Friday announced that, at the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Russian President Vladimir Putin will pay a state visit to India from December 4-5, 2025. Putin will attend the 23rd India-Russia Annual Summit. Notably, in October, when Putin had called PM Modi to exchange birthday greetings, the latter had stated that he looked forward to welcoming President Putin to India for the Summit.
President Putin’s schedule
During the visit, President Putin will hold talks with PM Modi. President Droupadi Murmu will also receive Putin and host a banquet in his honour. The forthcoming State visit will provide an opportunity for the leadership of India and Russia to review progress in bilateral relations, set the vision for strengthening their ‘Special and Privileged Strategic Partnership,’ and exchange views on regional and global issues of mutual interest, the MEA statement noted.
