Social media erupted in outrage over images falsely linked to Indian deportees from the US. In reality, the photos depict Guatemalan migrants.
A US military aircraft carrying illegal Indian immigrants landed in Amritsar this afternoon, marking the first such deportation under Donald Trump’s second term. The US Air Force aircraft departed from San Antonio, Texas, and arrived at Shri Guru Ramdas Ji International Airport in Punjab’s Amritsar.
This deportation comes amid the Trump administration’s intensified crackdown on illegal immigration, with officials confirming that more undocumented Indians are on the deportation list. Among the 104 deportees on board were men, women, and minors who had entered the US through unauthorized routes.

As news of the deportation emerged a few hours ago, images of people in handcuffs began circulating on social media, with claims that they showed Indian immigrants being flown out of the United States.
One photo depicts men with their hands cuffed, chains around their ankles, and face masks covering their faces. Another shows a row of men walking with their hands restrained behind their backs.
These images sparked widespread outrage on social media, with users condemning the alleged treatment of deportees and questioning the circumstances of their return.
Another user on X expressed anger over the images, writing: “Indians are being treated like prisoners. They are not only handcuffed but also have their legs chained while being deported from the USA by Trump.”
Truth Behind the Viral Photos
When HT.com conducted a reverse image search, it was revealed that these pictures do not show Indian immigrants who were deported from Texas and arrived in Amritsar today.
