The Pakistani Army on Tuesday released a new song titled ‘Dushmana Sun’ to commemorate 6 years of Operation Swift Retort. The song launched by the Inter-Service Public Relations (ISPR) calls on the youth to join the Pakistani army. It serves as a tribute to the country’s defense forces, however, despite the message, it is believed to have failed to impress its citizens.
This song highlights a series of events with a ‘clear message to India’. It highlights the 2019 operation when the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) claimed to have attacked two fighter jets from India. During this time, Pakistani forces captured wing commander Abhinandan Varthaman who was released later following international pressure. In this song, ISPR has used real footage of the operation, the moment when Abhinandan was handed over to India, montages of news channels, etc.

According to an official statement by Pakistan, ‘Dushmana Sun‘ describes the events of 27 February and stands as a testimony to the professionalism shown by the Pakistani military. It describes the song as a ‘warning to India’ and a ‘roar against any adversary’.
The ‘chest-thumping’ song has, however, failed to generate the desired impact with many social media users taking a toll on Pakistan. A user said, “I love my India.”
A third user wrote, “Bhik magne ka nya tarika.” A fourth user remarked, “Pehle apni bhukhmari to mita lein fir hamare Kashmir ki baat karein.” Meanwhile, a fifth user wrote, “Galat fahmi me Khush ho rahe hai galib ye hi sahi.” A X user asked, “1 बार बोर्डर मूवी भी देख लेना भिखमंगो.”
