In fact, all the inhabitants of Cameron Park in the American state of California are retired pilots. While strolling along its streets, you might get the feeling that it resembles an airstrip. The roads here are constructed for the purpose of plane takeoffs and landings. It is rumored that the residents utilize private planes even for their commutes to the office. This small township also boasts its distinctive history.
It is reported that the United States had over 400,000 pilots during the Second World War. The country constructed airfields in various regions during the war, which became unused after the war’s conclusion. Consequently, the government decided to allocate these areas with airstrips for retired soldiers. Presently, there are around 124 homes in this town, with nearly all of them featuring plane parking in front, where planes are visible taking off and landing periodically.
