Washington DC Plane Crash: A tragic Plane-Helicopter collision on Wednesday night near Reagan National Airport resulted in the death of 18 people out of 64 onboard as of now. According to reports, the collision occurred mid-air turning a regional jet operated by PSA Airlines for American Airlines and a Sikorsky H-60 Army Blackhawk helicopter into a fireball.

225 KMPH Speed, 400 Feet Altitude

According to reports, American Airlines flight 5342 was flying steadily at a height of above 400 feet and at a speed of 225 KMPH, when it collided around 9 pm local time.

What Went Wrong?

Reports suggest that the plane’s height suddenly began to drop, however there is no immediate word on the cause of the crash. The regional jet had departed from Wichita, Kansas while the Blackhawk helicopter was enroute from Fort Belvoir, Virginia with three soldiers.

The chaotic scene has sent shockwaves across US, with debris scattered all over the Potomac River. Immediately after the incident, the authorities have mobilized extensive rescue operations, with fireboats and emergency teams trying to locate the passenger and crew members affected by the crash.
