In a show of solidarity with Ukrainian President Zelenskyy, several European leaders, including French President Emmanuel Macron, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, joined Zelenskyy for his meeting at the White House with US President Donald Trump.
In a bilateral meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, US President Donald Trump said, “…It’s an honour to have the President of Ukraine with us. We have had a lot of good discussions, a lot of good talks. I think progress is being made, very substantial progress in many ways. We had a good meeting just a short while ago with the President of Russia. I think, there is a possibility that something could come out of it and today’s meeting is very important. We have 7 very powerful leaders from Europe and are going to be meeting with them right after this meeting.”
President Trump said, “If we have a good meeting today, I will set up a meeting with President Putin, and if you want, I will go to that meeting. Not that I want to do that, but I will do that because we want to save a lot of people from dying.”
Upon Bing asking about the possibility of Moscow being the next location, Leavitt said -
She is not going to litigate private conversations between Trump and Putin, but adds "there are many options that are being discussed by our national security team right now with both parties".
Upon being asked about how Trump would deal with Putin-Leavitt stated that Trump has definitively stated there will be no US boots on the ground as part of any peace plans. The US can help with coordination and other means of support, she says.
The president has directed his national security team to coordinate with European allies and to discuss this with Ukraine and Russia

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt will soon hold her routine press briefing, since most of the questions will be regarding the Russia-Ukraine war, its possible that new details about security gurantees might emerge.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky says he is working with allies to decide the specifics of possible security guarantees that could be provided to Ukraine following the summit in Washington yesterday.

Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov claimed that US Secretary of State Marco Rubio told him that he liked the “USSR” sweater he wore ahead of Friday’s summit in Alaska.
Lavrov led to a stir last week when he arrived at a hotel in Anchorage wearing a sweater emblazoned with “CCCP” - the Cyrillic letters for the Soviet Union.
Speaking to Russian state media Tuesday, Lavrov said the US delegation in Alaska reacted to his choice of attire without “any hysteria,” and that Rubio even said that he liked the sweater.
Pro-Kremlin commentators were delighted with Lavrov’s outfit, which seemed intended to hark back to Russia’s time as an imperial power during the Cold War.

French President Emmanuel Macron and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer will co-chair a virtual meeting of the “Coalition of the Willing”
– the name given to the group formed of the dozens of Ukraine’s allies that have pledged support in its fight against Russia – later today.
The coalition meeting will “follow up on yesterday’s meeting in Washington and to continue the work underway on the issue of security guarantees for Ukraine,” according to France’s Elysee Palace.
Macron and other European Union leaders will later take part in a video conference meeting hosted by the President of the European Council, Antonio Costa.
Germany’s Chancellor Friedrich Merz announced he will take part in both sets of talks.- CNN
British Prime Minister Keir Starmer said the White House meeting between US and European leaders made progress toward two goals the United Kingdom was most hoping to achieve.
First, Starmer said Monday’s meeting led to a “breakthrough” on security guarantees, which will “ensure that if there is a peace… then we hold to it.”
