India-Russia Ties: Trade and energy talks in focus
The two leaders will be discussing ways to strengthen the special and privileged strategic partnership, while focusing on key global issues, trade, and energy cooperation. The 23rd India-Russia Annual Summit comes in the backdrop of punitive sanctions imposed on New Delhi by US President Donald Trump. PM Modi is expected to reiterate India’s position, calling for a swift end to the Russia-Ukraine war.
Putin to participate in India-Russia Business Forum
After lunch with the Indian Prime Minister, Putin is scheduled to participate in the India-Russia Business Forum on Friday. According to reports, he will head back to Rashtrapati Bhavan, where President Droupadi Murmu will host a banquet in his honour.
Earlier, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said that there might be a discussion between the two nations regarding the possibility of Moscow supplying Su-57 fighter jets to New Delhi, news agency PTI reported.

This is Russian President Vladimir Putin’s first visit to India (December 4-5) since 2022. Putin will arrive in New Delhi on the evening of December 4, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi will host a private dinner in his honour at 7 Lok Kalyan Marg from 7 pm onwards.
On December 5th, at 9 a.m., President Putin will be accorded a ceremonial welcome at the forecourt of Rashtrapati Bhavan and presented with a tri-service guard of honour. Afterwards, Putin will proceed to Rajghat to pay homage to Mahatma Gandhi.
At 11 a.m., Prime Minister Modi and President Putin will hold the 23rd India-Russia Summit at Hyderabad House. At 4 p.m., the two leaders will also address the India-Russia Business Forum, where the focus will be on reinventing bilateral trade.
At 7 p.m. on December 5th, President Draupadi Murmu will host a state banquet in honour of President Putin. President Putin will return from India late in the evening after a nearly 30-hour stay in India.
