Vladimir Putin Accepts PM Modi’s Invitation; Russian President To Visit India Soon

In July 2024, Prime Minister Narendra Modi traveled to Russia, marking his first visit to the country in nearly five years. His last trip was in 2019 when he attended an economic conclave in Vladivostok, a city in Russia’s Far East.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has accepted Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s invitation to visit India. He will be visiting India soon. Russian foreign minister Sergey Lavrov said on Thursday that arrangements are being made for Russian President’s travel. In a video address to a conference titled “Russia and India: Toward a New Bilateral Agenda” being hosted by the Russian International Affairs Council (RIAC), Lavrov stated, “arrangements are currently being made for Putin to visit India.”

Lavrov was quoted as saying by Russian news agency Tass. “A visit by the Russian head of state to the Republic of India is currently being prepared.” Lavrov added that Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid his first foreign visit to Russia after his re-election last year. “Now it’s our turn,” he said. However, the dates of the visit have not been revealed yet.
