An Instagram post by Pakistani actress Sonya Hussaiyn has caught eyes of netizens. Sonya extended Diwali greetings to everyone in her post and wrote, “HAPPY DIWALI TO my friends like family @rashmikumariofficial @deepakperwaniofficial @ashokchawla @cestmoicouture @manu_manoj1 @dperwani karishma and to everyone celebrating.”
Quoting Muhammad Ali Jinnah, she added, “Pakistan is a beautiful mosaic of cultures and beliefs, and we must celebrate our minorities as vital parts of this nation. As Muhammad Ali Jinnah said, ‘You are free, you are free to go to your temples… You may belong to any religion, caste, or creed-that has nothing to do with the business of the State.”

She said that Jinnah’s quote reminds that every community is important and enriches the society. Sonya asserted that one should honour the rights and freedoms of every citizen so that everyone feels at home in Pakistan. “This quote reminds us that every community enriches our society. The Pakistani Actress had attended Diwali party hosted by Pakistani fashion designer Deepak Perwani.
In the video shared by Sonya, celebrities are seen enjoying the Diwali party with music, laughter and delicacies. They are seen lighting the sparklers and cheering ‘Happy Diwali.’ Sonya is welcomed by the guest, who applies red coloured ‘tika’ on her forehead.

Her video has now gone viral in the internet, while some users have lauded her festive spirit and Diwali message, other have targeted her for donning red ‘bind’ and participating in Diwali celebration. Some of the netizens called it ‘Nonsense.’ One user questioned her religion and wrote, “That lady is Hindu or Muslim??” and another user advised her to perform ‘pooja.’ A user said that he has unfollowed Sonya and wrote, “I have NEVER seen a Hindu celebrity celebrating Muslim festivities like this. This is BS on another level, they all are looking like lost clowns! Unfollowed!”
Some users said that she is not worth appreciating and loaded her comment section with negative views. The actress shared a close-up picture of herself and wrote, “#inclusive Pakistan, Happy Diwali to all the people celebrating.” A user questioned her about the ‘Bindi’ and wrote, “Kya aapne pehli bar bindi lagaiya? Kya aapko bindi lagana pasand hai?”
To her question, Sonya wrote, “Meri friend (designer Rashmi Kumar) ny lagai hai, jin k ghar diwali celebration pe invited thy hum. Hum hi sab family hain unki Pakistan.”
While the actress received criticism from some people, there were positive comments also. One user wrote, “This is a such a beautiful thing to watch… we were one before the partition, we are so similar! My grand pa only spoke n write urdu. We here celebrate Eid with love. So happy to see u celebrating Diwali. We need more such posts n more such ppl. More power to u super girl.”
A user even appreciated her bindi look and said, “You look stunning and the Bindi really looks good on you. Happy Diwali.” Another user termed it as “It’s called Hindu Muslim brotherhood.”
