Amid ongoing violent anti-corruption protests for the second day in Nepal, the country’s former Prime Minister, Sher Bahadur Deuba, and his wife were attacked by the Gen Z protestors on Tuesday. Assault videos circulating on social media platforms showed the protestors breaking into Deuba’s house in Budanilkantha, Kathmandu.
The ex-Nepalese minister was seen excessively bleeding from his face, while his wife, Arzu Rana Deuba, was showing signs of assault. Deuba and Arzu’s house was vandalized by the time they were rescued by the authorities.
The ‘Gen Z’ protesters resorted to arson and vandalism across the country, adding to the escalation of violence and chaos. As authorities struggled to regain control, party offices, political leaders’ residences, and multiple state buildings were set ablaze by enraged protesters.
Protestors were seen dancing and celebrating as they vandalised and set ablaze the outgoing Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli’s private residence in Balkot, Bhaktapur. President Ram Chandra Paudel’s private residence in Kathmandu was also vandalised, and parts of the property were set on fire. Both the Nepalese Prime Minister and President have officially resigned on Tuesday amid ongoing violent Gen Z-led protests across the country.
Shocking videos showed Nepal Finance Minister, Bishnu Prasad Paudel, being chased through Kathmandu streets. The 65-year-old Minister was spotted running in panic through the streets, with hundreds of people behind him.
The clip shows a young protester jumping and kicking Paudel down. The Minister is thrown off balance and slams into a red wall, but immediately gets up and runs again. The video ends here. The political agitation has so far led to the death of 19 people, and more than 300 people have been injured.
