An increasingly fierce protest, led by Gen Z, which started on Monday, September 8, with demands of lifting the ban on social media platforms and government corruption, has swept through Nepal. As violence continues to escalate for the second day, shocking videos have emerged which show Nepal Finance Minister, Bishnu Prasad Paudel, being chased through Kathmandu streets.
The 65-year-old Minister is spotted running in panic through the streets, with hundreds of people behind him. The clip shows a young protester jumping and kicking Paudel down. The Minister is thrown off balance and slams into a red wall, but immediately gets up and runs again. The video ends here.

Protestors on Tuesday vandalised and set fire to outgoing Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli’s private residence in Balkot, Bhaktapur. The demonstrators also torched ruling party offices and buildings in Janakpur. President Ram Chandra Paudel’s private residence in Kathmandu was also vandalised, and parts of the property were set ablaze. He has officially resigned today amid ongoing violent Gen Z-led protests across the country.
Meanwhile, KP Sharma Oli has also resigned as Nepal’s Prime Ministe, following ongoing violent protests over a ban on social media platforms. The political agitation has led to the death of 19 people, and more than 300 people were injured. A series of political twists unfolded on Monday, September 8, 2025, adding to the mounting chaos. Meanwhile, Oli fled to Kathmandu in a military aircraft.
